We believe that every bottle has a story to tell. We hand select each bottle sorting through the sea of libations to find selections from families that are authentic, real and passionate. It is out pleasure to be your humble guide into the world of wine, beer and spirits.
Variety: Castillo, Colombia
Region: Cauca, Pereira
Elevation: 1550-1800 MASL
Process: Washed/Mixed Process.
Magic: Whelp. We did it. And frankly we’re pretty damn proud of it. Introducing Penrose. It’s 50% washed process from Cauca, 50% mixed process from Pereira, and 100% your new best friend. We put this blend together to be good as one thing and one thing only: everything. I’ll admit that we sourced and roasted these coffees to be stellar on espresso, but the reality is that this blend is incredible as filter too. It has massive body, deep rustic sweetness, and a super approachable fruitiness that’ll remind you that yes, this is Little Owl, and yes, we love fruity coffees.
Washed: Our trusty Piendamo brings the chocolate. This coffee is the product of five different producers tossing their best lots in a pile and crossing their fingers. Each farm has it’s own micro-mill, managing their individual harvest and post harvest in the way that best suits their needs and their microclimate. It rules.
Mixed process: The absolute next level jammer from the Mustafá family. The general vibe is definitely that of a natural process coffee, but with a complexity and depth of flavor that most natty coffees can’t touch. We’re super fudging psyched on these experimental lots that are coming out of Colombia. Look for a field report from our roasting crew in the next few months when they travel down to the Mustafá’s farm to help with harvest and build a real connection with this family. <3
Denver owes its elevated coffee scene to some of the early pioneers that set the roots of specialty coffee in this town. Our beloved blend name honors one of the individuals that was a huge inspiration and guiding light for Little Owl in its early days. We’re here because this person paved the way for us and companies like us. Dustin Fuchtman is the man, and his coffee company, Penrose, had a brief yet triumphant reign. His vision was high design, high quality, and just generally beautiful. We’re here to carry that torch. We’re here to remember that “people matter most.”
