High on a rocky hilltop in the heart of Tuscany, the walled medieval commune of Montalcino is home to one of Italy’s most important wines. Translated as “the nice dark one,” Brunello requires up to five years of aging (the most in Italy), two years in oak, and is made entirely of Sangiovese—the most noble of all Italian varietals. Delicious and elegant on the nose, the palate is rich with ample weight, firm tannins, and a mouthwatering finish. A superb choice for osso buco, bistecca alla Fiorentina, or any special meal or gathering.
