Lugana sits on the border between Lombardy and Veneto at the southern end of beautiful Lake Garda. one of the most scenic wine regions in a very scenic country. Trebbiano is a grape that is ubiquitous throughout Italy. Lugana wines are made from a special clone of Trebbiano grape called, not surprisingly Trebbiano di Lugana. It does not grow south of the lake region. The wines are luscious, unoaked, full-bodied, and surprisingly ageworthy. They deserve ranking among the world’s best whites for their balance, beauty, and food-friendly style. Where there is seafood, there should be a bottle of Lugana. The Zenato family owns a total of 75 hectares of vines at the Santa Christina estate in Lugana and at the Costalunga estate in Valpolicella.
