The Share Wine Tasting Plus Cheese Pairings!

WNW presents The Share…now with cheese pairings!

First tasting of the month is always exciting for us, as we get to taste some of what’s to come for members of The Share and talk about some new and interesting wines and winemakers that we’ll be featuring for the month, but this month is even MORE exciting than normal. We have cheese. Eek! Culture Meat and Cheese is now a permanent fixture in our shop, and, if you’re like us, that means that we now have everything necessary to sustain life. We’re not talking some dinky meat and cheese just sitting up at the register. We’ve got a whole shop chock full of hand selected cheeses and meats, as well as, a variety of locally made sausages and bacon that are the bomb. Seriously. You never have to go to the grocery store ever again! Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday we will be sampling delicious accouterments from our newest addition, so that you all can know the wonder that lies within. This Wednesday from 4-7 pm we will pair all four of our tasting wines with a cheese of our choice. It’ll all be yummy and new, so don’t miss out this delicious event.
This week’s line up is unique, delicious and super summery. First up is a delightful Italian Verdicchio from Azienda Santa Barbara. This Verdicchio is organic and a Kermit Lynch selection and crazy value. You won’t believe the price when you drink it. Next we’ll taste the Pico Maccario Lavignone Rosato our of Piedmont. This 100% Barbera rosé is almost perfect. It’s crisp and refreshing but also soft and sensual. The complexity and impact of this wine will surprise you after you’ve seen just how light the color of the wine is. Number 3 on our list is something we are very excited about, The Antiquum Farm Rosé of Pinot Gris. This “rosé” is actually an orange wine that gains its color from the skin of a white wine grape, not a red one. It is textural from time on the skin and super interesting and complex. This wine is also farmed biodynamically and organically. The last wine is the line up is a refreshing Rioja out of Spain. Not always is s Rioja meant for summer heat, but this one doesn’t see any time in oak and the Tempranillo is also hit with a touch of Viura for freshness and aromatics. A really interesting style that’s perfect for the season.

Tasting Notes:
2018 Azienda Santa Barbara Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi: Incredibly quaffable with refreshing acidity, vibrant tropical fruit and almond skin.
2018 Pico Maccario Lavignone Rosato: A deliciously soft and pleasurable rosé with complex notes of wild strawberry, cranberry, fresh cut grass and river stone.
2017 Antiquum Farms Rosé of Pinot Gris: layer after layer of flavor and complexity here. Notes of hibiscus tea, rose hips, citrus, lavender and river stone. Amazingly aromatic and textured.
2017 La Bicicleta Rioja: A unique blend of Tempranillo and Viura with no time in oak and aged, instead, in concrete tanks. The Rioja is fresh and modern with notes of wild strawberry, dark berry and a touch of peppery spice.
