Pronounced PAR-say. Sipping rum aged in whiskey barrels. Colombian slang for ‘good friend’. Created in 2010 by Chicago brothers Brian, Jim, and Patrick Powers, Parce Rum quickly grabbed the attention of the public winning some pretty incredible awards at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The idea to create rum was sparked when Jim visited his brother Patrick in Medellín, Colombia, where he lives with his family. Remembering their father’s longtime wish that his sons would go into business together, the brothers began discussing possible endeavors.
“We started with our own desire to only create something that we think is fantastic. For us it’s the only way we could present anything to people, we have to believe in it. If you can’t be passionate about your work what’s the point? Life’s too short.” Jim Powers
“What makes Parce stand so far apart from other Rum sold in the US? A few things. Probably foremost is the very pronounced whiskey notes evident in the aroma and finish in our Parce 8yr and 12yr. Every drop is aged a minimum of the age statement on the bottle, We do not use the solera process. Our Master Blenders Arthur and Brojen Fernandes Domecq, carefully choose barrels from various sources to provide our specifically desired drier more complex finish. Parce also is uniquely connected to environmental projects to give back to Colombia, including our One Bottle = One Tree program. We literally plant a native species tree in Colombia for every bottle of Parce sold.” – Jim Powers
