New Zealand Summer Wines Perfect for the Bach! Bach (pronounced ‘batch’) A bach is a summer house. Lots of Kiwis have one and they are popular in beach resorts. They tend to be pretty basic (although they are getting more up-market). When to use: “The weather looks cracking for the weekend, let’s head up to the bach!”. These wines are not just for your vacation in New Zealand however. During these hot summer days, cool down with one or all of these beauty’s with a meal or just to cool down.

This week, Aillia Avery from Negociants a premium importer of New Zealand wines will be in-store to lead these fun wines that are perfect to beat the heat with! We will be trying three different New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs each winery showcasing the terrier of their individual places and wine making styles plus a Pinot Noir that you will definitely be taking home.

2017 Twin Islands, Marlborough New Zealand – Sauvignon Blanc :: $18 Sale $16

Twin Islands, Marlborough, creates exceptional wines which are crafted with varietal character and refreshment in mind. Their clean, fresh and varietally distinctive palate ensure they fulfil this aim. Twin Islands Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2017 is pale straw in colour. Its lively fragrance combines passionfruit, grapefruit and fresh mint. The palate is crisp and intense showing citrus flavours with hints of fresh coriander which lead to a mouth-watering and zesty finish.


2017 Allan Scott, Marlborough New Zealand – Sauvignon Blanc :: $18 Sale $16

Founded in 1990, Allan Scott Family Winemakers is located in Marlborough, New Zealand and owned by Allan and Catherine Scott. A true family affair, son Josh is the winemaker, while daughters Sara and Victoria are the viticulturist and marketing manager respectively. Their sustainably farmed vineyards are located in Rapaura along the northern edge of Wairau Valley and planted to gravelly soils. In 2010, their Millstone vineyard was certified organic. Fresh, zesty, juicy and full, this fruit driven new world style wine will excite the senses without the racy overload. Tropical fruit with a fresh herbaceous character balanced with zesty passionfruit and a dry finish, this wine will take you straight back to the warmer summer days.

2017 Nautilus, Marlborough New Zealand – Sauvignon Blanc :: $21 Sale $18

In 1985, in the early days of Marlborough Nautilus started their small, family-owned winery based in the stunningly beautiful Marlborough region of New Zealand. The striking Nautilus shell on the bottles shape expresses natural beauty and mathematical perfection. It is Nautilus’ inspiration to create a collection of expressive, textural, precisely crafted wines.

Their innovative viticultural and winemaking team takes the approach of blending several different fruit parcels to achieve layers of complexity in the wines. Whilst Nautilus wines can easily be enjoyed on their own,  they are even better when paired with delicious food and the philosophy of creating food-friendly wines is paramount for winemaker Clive Jones. The 2017 Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc displays intense aromas of ripe passionfruit, elderflower, limes and fresh herbs. The palate introduces a delightful lime/citrus based mouth-watering intensity and finishes with a strong textural component. Delicious upon release, this wine will improve for 3-5 years post vintage.Try with Snapper ceviche with chilli and lime, avocado and tomato, with coriander salsa.

2015 Nautilus, Marlborough New Zealand – Pinot Noir :: $42 Sale $36

The 2015 Nautilus Pinot Noir is dark ruby in colour. The nose reveals fragrant floral aromas, ripe wild blackberries, plums and spices. The palate is medium bodied with good structure. Refined and balanced, this elegant wine shows good intensity and a lengthy finish.Beautiful when accompanied by Venison with Star Anise
