Bespoke Wines At Their Best
‘Why Not Wednesday’
South America is home to diverse vineyards that create superb wines that have earned respect across the globe. Its landscape is unique and ideal for growing wine grapes, for large and small scale production. The strong cultural influences of the continent are seen in their passion for life and work. Join us this ‘Why Not Wednesday’ to taste some of Brazos Imports incredible wines from the winemaking Michelini family.
The Michelini Family
The large Michelini family (4 brothers, 2 sisters, 23 grandchildren, and over 70 different wines made) has been, individually and together, dominating the wine scene in the Uco Valley for years. They are constantly evolving and rather than producing run-of-the-mill wines, the brothers are experimenting with different varietals and aging techniques, including oversize amphoras and cement eggs. They are terroir focused winemakers and like to pick early with minimal or no oak influence. They practice organic methods in the vineyards, sometimes biodynamic, and use only indigenous yeast in the wine making process. They are at the forefront of the new generation of wines coming from Mendoza. They have magic in the fingers and rock and roll in their souls!
Neal Martin (Wine Advocate) commented on the Michelini Brothers wines that “Their passion and commitment, their spirituality and, for want of a better word, “purity” in terms of doing what they do for the love of it rather than financial reward, brought to mind the Lopez de Heredia sisters in Rioja. If you want cutting edge, meticulously crafted Argentinean wines hot footed from one of the most exciting sub-regions (Gualtallary), then look no further.”
Brazos Wine Imports
Brazos Wine Imports are known for their rare collection of wines that are handpicked by its founders, Brian Ravitsky and Jonathan Chaplin. Having interacted with wine from an early age with wine, both Ravitsky and Chaplin share an unbridled passion about food and wine. They import wine from twelve different producers located in some of the best sub-regions of Argentina and Chile with a focus on artisanal, single vineyard, small production, estate grown, and environmentally friendly wines.
