Andrew Rich Wines

Andrew Rich traded in his career as a distinguished magazine editor and columnist after his thirst for making wine became too great. His approach was “all in” from the very beginning. He enrolled in a prestigious winemaking school located in Burgundy, France where he studied the art of winemaking and viticulture. In pursuit of  making incredible wine, Andrew continued his journey to the Northwest after he had worked five vintages with Randall Grahm, owner, and winemaker at Bonny Doon Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Passionate about Rhone style varietals, Andrew was determined to produce warmer climate driven wines, even though he chose to live in Oregon. Starting his own label Andrew Rich Vintner in 1994, he quickly became a noted pioneer at creating Rhone-driven wines with a Northwest spin. He continues to work with some of the most respected vineyards in the Columbia Valley of Washington. Of course, he makes Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley too…

Today he makes wine in the state-of-the-art Carlton Winemakers Studio, the nation’s first “green” cooperative winemaking facility which promises to be an archetype for Oregon’s wine industry. Continue reading more about Andrew Rich and the Carlton Winemakers Studio here.
